Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★

Once upon a time... there was a man who loved to tell stories.

As it happens, these stories weren’t always excellent in and of themselves—they were often unpleasant, without conscience, full of feet—but he told them with such a joyful zeal, they were almost instilled with a higher virtue unreachable through the sheer and very unvirtuous fiction alone. But the world is a strange place: times change, and the people with them, and as the sun began to set on the storyteller’s career, his cynicism softened, his eyes glimmered, and he told a self-reflective ode to the telling of stories. Spun as the sun touched the western sea and the light glowed softly in the city of angels, it was itself a curiously lovely story about the last glimmers of daylight and splashes of grace in the early morning. It was crafted with the vigor of a younger man and the perspective of a wiser one, and when it was finished...

...it may have been his best one yet.
