Aw, I was hoping I’d find this a yawn so I could use this gem: “I Was Bored, but…”
Unfortunately for me, Ozu delivers yet another film of perfect clarity and gentle wisdom; his handling of child actors remarkable and timing impeccable. Perhaps a shade too long for such a simple tale, in spite of that the story’s never less than affecting and honest.
Bravo, mate. Even if the film's quality does rob me of a perfectly good pun.
