The phrase ‘like father, like son’ springs to mind with this one.
Possessor is a horrifying experience of paranoia and fear, upping the stakes with every scene that goes by. Cronenberg JR has obviously been taking notes from his old man but it’s evident he has ideas of how to differentiate his career from David’s. *the* scene where it goes from one thing to a prolonged panic attack is absolutely perfect and I cannot stress enough that this man is the future of psychological horror.
Although Christopher Abbott is a standout, every cast member is incredible and it’s just a shame that The Oscars isn’t on for (this/next) year because this movie would’ve taken a few spots in the acting categories.
As much as I love their movies, I can’t help but think The Crononbergs could do with some therapy.
