    Paul Verhoeven took a love triangle story and made a $6 million dollar medievel exploitation movie out of it.

    Let me just highlight a scene real quick.     Did some research trying to figure out what style of sword fighting Rutger Hauer was using throughout. I appreciated that they didn't just use traditional japanese bushido for those sequences. Apparently this is known as the 'Zatoichi' style or reverse grip (Fitting considering Zatoichi was also a blind swordsmen) and it is most useful for very confined quarters combat. Where as normal Samurai usually fought in fields with plenty of space to breathe.
