Tyler Tompkins’s review published on Letterboxd:
Slightly underwhelmed. I expected to leave the theater raving about this one, but a few issues. Loved how Yorgos is essentially trolling the period piece genre, but it never feels like he fully commits. It’s 75% trolling and 25% typical period drama (I believe this is why the film has been so accessible compared to his previous movies.) Minor pacing issues toward the end.
Performances are excellent though. Emma Stone stole the entire movie.
