Noticed that when leaving Punxsutawney all the characters in the van wear blue to help convey the coldness of the blizzard.

It is unecessary to attempt to understand what this film is about, i also think that it isnt completely necessary to use it as entertainment. Films made during the pandemic film movement should be regarded as works of art and ZOOMBINI: OUTSIDE is a work of pure unique genius on Zoombini’s part. The pandemic often represents the dream world and dreams very rarely make any sense or have any sort of linear narrative in real life. What they often do…

    Day 365 out of 365:

I did it. I actually watched Groundhog Day every day for an entire year. I feel awesome.

    ★★★

The first half of the movie is a damn masterpiece, everything is done perfectly. The second half however completely sucks. It feels like one of the matrix sequels and Danny Elfman’s score becomes overpowering which ruins everything. The second half also becomes too fast paced for no reason and the early reveal of Button Face’s identity ruins the creepiness of his later scenes.

    Day 364 out of 365:

Realised that the last day of my challenge to watch Groundhog Day every day for a year is on a Sunday. The day that Groundhog Day is set, February 2nd 1992 is also on a Sunday so I unintentionally timed this challenge perfectly.

I also noticed that the suicide scenes and part of the god scene were a reference to the twilight zone episode ‘Escape Clause’ so the twilight zone clearly had a major influence…

I genuinely cannot tell if the title of this is a joke about communism or not. The mood of the documentary switches rapidly from funny to serious which makes it difficult to pinpoint exactly what the intentions of the director are.

    Day 363 out of 365:

Realised that Nancy eating the cherry near the end of film could be another case of repetition as the bed and breakfast that Phil stays at is called the ‘Cherry Street Inn’.

    Day 362 out of 365:

Decided to look into the year 1887 today, the year that the first Groundhog Day festival took place and found out that the construction of the Eiffel Tower started in 1887 which may explain why there are so many references to France in the film.

    Day 361 out of 365:

Noticed that in the opening credits of the film, Rick Ducommun, Rick Overton and Robin Duke, whose name’s all start with an ‘R’ are grouped together which is used to foreshadow the repetition that Phil experiences in the time loop.

I wish the actor playing Nixon looked more like Nixon because his face completely took me out of the movie at points. It could have also used more dick jokes but overall it was very funny and I really enjoyed it.

Realised that Ned mentioning Case Western High could be a clue as to the university that Phil studied meteorology at.

    Day 359 out of 365:

Noticed that one of the background extras at Gobbler’s Knob is wearing a broach. Later in the film during the flat tire scene one of the old ladies is wearing a similar looking broach so it could be another case of repetition.
