Jack O'Connell’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is my one of my favorite movie musicals of all time. Every single detail is near perfection. Burton's direction is absolutely astonishing, the film drools with style and polish. Definitely his best work since Ed Wood. The music sounds fantastic for the most part, every actor finds a way to own their music, whether a trained singer or not. All of the leads are excellent. The terrifying but charming Sweeney Todd, Depp nailed it. Depp would've been my second choice to win Best actor, behind Daniel Day Lewis. The young and naive Anthony. The corrupt and despicable Judge Turpin (Rickman is a legend). And don't even get me started on Helena Bonham Carter. It’s also a very accessible musical for people who don't normally enjoy the genre, and stands up as a great gothic horror film. Man, 2007 was a pretty good year for movies.
