saw is one of my favorite horror series, but it is absolutely a situation where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. saw 7 might be one of the weaker entries, but i love the series' stubborn dedication to its convoluted plot and character drama – even if it has to maintain that via constant retcons and twists that sometimes amount to nothing more than just straight-up lying to the audience.
