Second half is pretty great, love what they did with the sound design and how they went about trying to capture what being deaf might really sound like. Wish it would’ve given me a little more insight into who Riz was and actually focused on his coming to terms with being deaf, and maybe even a little more about how he got to where he was. Instead, it felt like the movie took the easy route - cheesy scenes with Riz in an idyllic deaf community just didn’t do it for me, felt forced and like they took away from what could’ve been a really interesting character piece. Lot of great elements, but the film’s preachy vibes and statements ultimately fell on - ahem - deaf ears.
