Vinny Thornburg’s review published on Letterboxd:
Any film that gets me in my chair just pumped at how good the film is a wonder to be taken in! For plenty it's a great action scene or a huge twist at the end that gets the heart racing.
Meanwhile I'm the dork going "Oh shit the camera just moved in like crazy on this little conversation between Sarah and her husband I want this energy with me always!" and "Oh shit this triple fade between all three leads faces is insane I love it!" in my own head as I'm just getting more and more happy that Yorgos Lanthimos is making films and I get to see them in a theater instead of learning about him like some old foreign master with an impeccable and overwhelming filmography.
We are in the middle of Yorgos Lanthimos taking over the world one film at a time and I'm on board for whatever kind of duck racing/James Corden tomato throwing/book bashing/lesbian licking/black period comedy/I convinced him my monthly blood was 28 days/A gentleman oh so it's rape then/ adventure he just shows up with next time.
