“Cinema pays tribute to the depth of one's ordinary nature.”
Yikes. Bland, generic, straight-up problematic. The fact that this film was even nominated for Best Picture is truly a mystery. It's unfathomable that such a film received the same award as Moonlight, a more nuanced, more delicate, more artistic film, and a generally superior picture in every way.
Perhaps Green Book winning is a direct outcome of the United States' political climate. Perhaps it is a sign that the Academy needs a serious reform. In any case, it is the symbol of a true moral and artistic malaise.
