Viktor Prentovski’s review published on Letterboxd:
Suicide Squad is a disappointing affair and I expected nothing more. A bland, unoriginal and honestly boring superhero (villain?) movie that could have been so much more. I'm glad I watched it at home.
Margot Robbie is perfectly cast as Harley Quinn and Will Smith does a very good job as Deadshot. The others? Not that interesting. Viola Davis is much more of a badass than the rest of the squad.
Some people say that superhero movies are only as good as the villain, which would make this the most awful movie ever. Cara Delevingne is a model, so I don't have any expectations from her, but she's not given much to work with as The Enchantress.
In fact, nobody is given much to work with. The script is paper thin, with holes and dumb stuff left and right. A very shallow story told in an horrendous way.
I won't talk about the brownish color palette, which pisses me off. Bat-shit crazy characters and all we get is a bland brown movie? Sad things from DC.
I feel like the tone of the movie is completely off. It's very serious at times, but the characters lose it from time to time and just pop a joke out of nowhere. At least in Marvel movies, you know that jokes are going to be flying left and right. Here, everything looks and sounds dull.
I have honestly not seen a worse superhero movie. Harley Quinn is a triumph and Will Smith does his thing, but the rest is horrible. And don't get me started on Jared Leto's Joker. So much marketing, so much "method acting". I knew he wasn't going to be in the movie much, but I never thought I would say this. I'm glad he had limited screen time. He was SHIT! A disgrace of a movie...
