Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★½

it's nice to see Tarantino do something different for a change but this was still very underwhelming to me. Performances and cinematography were great but there's no meat to the story, the ending feels unearned, and it's the first Tarantino where I really felt the length. The editing was especially weird at times and as much as I respect Tarantino just reminiscing about the Hollywood he knows and loves, I just wasn't very interested in it.

I don't usually like to use the word "self-indulgent" because it's overused, but I think it's completely appropriate here. It feels scatterbrained. Where's Tarantino's usual great character work? His storytelling? It goes much farther than being a "love letter to the golden age of Hollywood", it's more so Tarantino jerking off to '60s Hollywood.
