    Come True

Original sci-fi horror film that takes its inspiration from Cronenberg (both father and son) and Lynch, but still retains its own vision and execution. It’s filled with surreal nightmare sequences which results in a creepy atmosphere. But where it distinguish itself is in the style, its stylistically shot with some blue filter and lighting, the ambient synth soundtrack (Electric Youth!) give it some retro vibes to it, there’s even a scene which is almost a hommage to Drive. Maybe the third…

‘’Well, I guess I’ll see you in another lifetime’’

Breathtaking psychological drama, without a doubt Glazers best. Beautiful longshots with an autumn looking color platte and a soundtrack by Wagner and Desplat creates this melancholic atmosphere.

The plot is deep, kinda philosophical but also absurd at the same time. There is some subtle humor in it, but it still remains a heavy subject being dark and sad. Also surprisingly there’s quite a lot of suspense, but fortunately Glazer is never tempted to cheap shocks and the plot unfolds very slowly. Kidman is amazing in this. Those grieving, questioning looks she gives us are hypnotically beautiful.

Solid Trier that tackles many life themes, with a bit of existentialism on it as well. The film is well constructed and the ‘chapter’ construction works well with it. Visually its pretty decent, Oslo as city helps a lot with that, the soundtrack is subtle yet works emotionally very well in some scenes. Only too bad of the ‘magical scene’ halfway in, which has already become a cliche just like the over-the-top tripping scene.

    Mikey and Nicky

Solid movie. I like the concepts about a test of friendship and the fact it takes places in one night. Movie starts off great, the interaction between Peter Falk and John Cassavetes is well executed and they for sure have the necessary chemistry together including some striking, spiky altercations. But in the second half the movie appears to be quite long-winded and monotonous, the meager plot isn’t really captivating. The climax saves the movie, it all comes together nicely.

    Noé can’t miss.
A personal mix of a small cinema essay, a YSL promotion and a short mockumentary where a film set turns to hell. Visually not his best but certainly his most aggressive, the last 20 minutes are an intense spiritual trip.

The course of this film is again typical Noé, in which the audiovisual aspect becomes more and more intense and the stress and hectic pace increase. Despite the lack of sex, drugs and harsh violence it knows…
