James Whitmore plays Joe Smith, American who lives in white suburban Los Angeles with pregnant wife Mary (Nancy Reagan - then known as Nancy Davis) and all-American son Johnny (Gary Gray). One night while listening to the radio the programme is interrupted and a voice claiming to be God is heard. Initially dismissed as a hoax it is repeated the following evening and every night at 8.30pm for six nights. And the same message is being heard throughout the world in whatever language the listener speaks. The technical bods can't work out how it is being done and people start to believe that it might actually be God. And that frightens them...
If we must have religious themed films (specifically pro white Christian films) then they should be like this rather than the mush we get these days.
And its central message of 'be nice to each other' is not a bad one (obvs).
