Buffalo '66

Buffalo '66 ★★★★★

Vincent Gallo gets out of prison, and goes to visit his parents (Anjelica Huston and Ben Gazzara), first kidnapping a dance student (Christina Ricci) who he convinces to pretend is his girlfriend. Certainly self-indulgent, as it’s mostly Gallo talking neurotically and getting mad at people, but there’s a funniness to it, and there’s definitely a sense of personal sadness and loneliness that comes through. The other actors are all great, too (especially Huston and Gazzara as the parents), Ricci looks amazing, and it’s beautifully shot.
