I was originally gonna watch something new tonight but my internet went out so I decided to grab my copy of this and rewatched it because I was planning on it anyways and I really enjoyed it the first time. I had no idea that this rewatch would make me realize that it's my second favorite movie of all time.
So why do I love this movie?
Well, where to begin. I love the screenplay. Each character feels uniquely developed and distinct, even the more minor ones. The comedy is some of Tarantino's best. I also love the mood. This movie really grows on you as it goes on and I become more and more invested as it continues. The ultimate payoff of it all is fantastic of course.
But what I love most of all about this movie is how much it loves movies. You can tell Tarantino loves film from some of his other work but it really comes out here. Some may consider this self indulgent and I agree to a very minor extent. Most of the time self indulgence is used in a negative connotation but here I think the movies own love for itself really works.
I love this movie a lot.
