gives the play all the gilded areolae, pantomimed fisting, ken russell self-inserts (as photographer and pornographer), fart jokes, and female penises it needs. some of the antisemitic elements in the production elicited discomfort, but i imagine they are true to the play—and definitely to the time—since this adaptation is largely verbatim.
