This has never been one of my favorite Carpenter films. In fact, I’ve seen ESCAPE FROM LA a lot more than this (it’s got that video store nostalgia going for it). The his was my first time revisiting NEW YORK in a long time and I believe I enjoyed it a lot more than I did from previous viewings.
First off, Kurt Russel exudes so much sex appeal without ever having to rely on a romantic subplot. Is Snake our first Asexual action hero? Maybe not, but it works out in my brain.
