Monster Hunter

Monster Hunter

Well, that was disappointing. This easily could’ve been one of those super over the top, flawed yet ridiculously entertaining action blockbusters. Unfortunately it’s bad, and quite forgettable. The acting and visual effects were good, and the film definitely had some standout scenes. The pacing in general wasn’t very good though, this movie really started to drag in the second half. But you know the thing that really brings it down? The editing. The editing was downright atrocious. It gave me a headache. There’s constant cuts. Like every 2-3 seconds is a new cut. It will go from a wide-shot, to a close-up, to a medium and back fo a close-up in the span of 15 seconds. Because of this, the action scenes that would otherwise have been visually epic are just hard to watch and keep track of. Another flaw in this movie was ending, it was so abrupt and set up a sequel that is probably never going to happen. Anyway, this was a disappointingly bad film. It could have been super entertaining, but instead it’s pretty boring and highly forgettable, and the horrendous editing is the cherry on top.
