Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★★

saw in 35mm.

simply fucking genius.

tarantino is an absolute mastermind in the writing room and behind the camera.

honestly i think the reason i loved it so much was because it felt vastly different from anything tarantino has ever done to date and he really stepped outside his usual narrative and main focus for this one, until the final 25mins or so solidified that it was indeed a tarantino film.

but i just loved that it read to me like a love letter to the age of Hollywood and felt really true to Tarantino's perception of the look and true feel of the progression from the 60s to the 70s, with the whole hippy movement and the hints at different steps in pop culture.

it was definetly worth seeing it on a film print as i think that was a huge part of what won me over as it felt like i was watching a film straight out of the time period as the grain to the film made it feel true and impactful to the story, locations and characters
